The Vermilion Parish Police Jury looked at filling a full-time clerk’s position that has been empty for eight months but settled on hiring a part-time person because of a decline in sales tax revenues.
This year, sales tax revenue is down by 25 percent from last year.

At Monday night’s meeting, the Jury was about to approve to advertise to hire a full-time clerk’s position to help the administrative office. But Police Juror Mark Poché questioned the need to hire a full-time person.
