If anyone was offended by this episode...
Sorry not sorry. That was fun.
Good podcast. I disagree with the LL comments of having high highs and low lows. I think its almost the opposite. I think his ceiling is not as high as we would hope but he also doesn't kill us in games. He doesn't turn the ball over often and doesn't take many sacks. He doesn't have us playing behind the chains often and can make plays but is not a big playmaker. He's efficient and this is true do to being the second most efficient QB in the league.
I was thinking about sending you guys a PM but since you posted this I’ll make this public. First of all I’m not easily offended and won’t stop listening, at least for now. I get that this is a “fan podcast” and if you want it to have the vibe of some buddies discussing the past week of UL sports over a few beers that’s cool. If you want this to grow (and why wouldn’t you) keep in mind that larger your listener audience gets the broader it gets. At one point during the Levi discussion someone dropped “this loser fan base” and then later on y’all took some shots at the basketball crowd and their average age. Look part of doing what your doing is having and opinion and stating it. Even if you think that your opinion is something that a good portion of your listeners might not agree with go ahead and state it, it creates a dynamic that makes the podcast interesting. However taking shots at the fan base in general just to get a laugh out of the guy sitting across from you might be funny for both of you in the moment, but I think that kind of stuff might hold you back in the long run.
Just my 2 cents, I appreciate the hard work and help killing an hour of my commute.
I’m assuming you didn’t find it amusing. But when local, credentialed media folks take shots at segments of the fanbase, that’s perfectly fine... It’s a lighthearted jab. One that happens to be true. I’ve been saying this exact thing for a decade.
Hatch, the allure of the MAT character is airing grievances that terrestrial radio won’t touch. “Our loser fanbase” is an ode to the loser’s mentality that has gripped this town for generations. These are things that have been expressed way before I was ever saying them on a podcast.
Having said all of that, we sincerely appreciate your feedback and listenership. Please continue.
Appreciate the feedback and thanks for listening!
I’ll sort of piggy back on what MAT said. We are a podcast that tries to translate what a good portion of our fan base may be thinking but doesn’t have a mic to say it through. For me, a lot of my analysis on the podcast comes from perspectives of fans that I talk to around town that may not be a huge donor or go to the social events, but are still at the games when the time comes. There are instances where one of us may be a little “harsher” than some would like, but it creates conversation on the overall perspective of what we are talking about.
Personally, I have no ill will towards any team or anyone in any of our athletic programs. I want to succeed every year in every sport. I just call it like I see it. And I will say it. The problem with that is the fact that we have fans in this fan base who sometimes don’t like the truth. And in the long run, it’s not the fan or coach that gets the short end of the stick. It’s the program that suffers because of it. Sometimes, we need to change the way we think around here especially when it comes to having certain goals. But that’s for another episode lol.
But again, thanks for listening and please give us feedback anytime!
