And I truly believe (and saying you disagree won't change my mind) that there are a handful who have become so jaded with their hatred of Marlin that they want to see the program fail just so they can get a new guy in and say I told you so.

I'm not going to leave angry as I did a couple of years ago. I'm simply not going to participate in basketball threads. Those of You (and it's certainly not all of you) that like to wallow in misery no matter what can go right ahead.

Now, if I may, a word or two about the podcast. I know all three of you. I believe you've done a relatively good job on the football podcasts. Personally I'd like for you guys to be less of a fan and more of an analyst, but it's your show.

I also know you well enough to know that you are much more versed in your knowledge of football than you are in basketball. If I can make a suggestion to you, it would be to DVR the telecasts and go back and watch them. Go back and watch the games, following what happens away from the ball. You'll find yourselves much more credible and knowledgeable if you do that. It's going to make for a better podcast, trust me on that. Knowledge is power, at least that's what I've heard. If you're going to have a good podcast, you'll need to work a little harder.

Best of luck to you guys as you move forward.
Appreciate the feedback. We definitely try watch all games in the same way to offer enough valuable analysis that would be effective enough for fans to understand.

As for Coach Marlin, you will have people who just want him gone. But in the other breath, you will also have a group of people who thinks he hung the moon and will give every excuse in the book to justify why it’s ok if he doesn’t succeed. I’m more in the middle, especially after he got his contract extension because the quality has to match the cost that he is paid now. But I still have expectations for the program to where if he doesn’t reach them, it’s time to find someone who will. As much as I love our coaches, it’s about the program more than anything or anyone else. And I will continue to support the program after he is long gone. It’s nothing personal.

But we will see what happens.

You owe this man an apology before you ever post here again.
It is OK Willis. I did not take the post personally. Guy does not know me and I do not know him. Did not lose sleep over it. I did find it strange I was not addressing much about the coaching staff in the post he responded to.

I'm on that podcast to give a FANS perspective. I don't need to be an expert analyst to give a legitimate opinion, especially when it is seemingly the prevailing feeling of the fanbase. Again, just my opinion, but the beauty of having the podcast outlet is that you can be a little more honest and genuine. That's why I would listen, anyway.

Another small note. We haven't broken down any basketball games yet. We were merely having THE CONVERSATION. And projecting what the roster might be capable of.

Still, I think Jay should come on and tell all of the people that are down on MBB why they're wrong.
MAT, I expect you to be a fan. I also expect you to be a knowledgeable fan. The more you know the better you'll be. It's way too easy to say, we lost, we suck, fire the coach. That's what a lot of fans do. Those who do podcasts should be able to at least back up their opinions with evidence.

In my opinion, simple reaction to a W or an L does not accomplish that.

Oh, and I too, am a Vermilion and White die hard. You know that.

I have a radio show where I can do that. Thanks. And despite what some of you think, I actually do criticize. I'm just a lot less emotional about it.

This podcast is the most objective analysis of Reinhardt Dr. since Schultz left. You can’t rely on 1420 to provide anything other than lip service. If you want to hear pandering, turn it to KPEL, especially between 3-5 PM on weekdays.

My personal translation: CajunsMike, Turbine, and a few others ... I'm on record but you're on your own this basketball season.

    Help.

I have been mum on Marlin for 7 years, my friend. In 2016 when the boo birds came out, I defended the staff to the hill. In 2017, I bought in to the sweet 16 dream. There comes a point where ignoring real issues actually hurts the program, and I think we are at that point. We disagree there, and that's ok.

On backing up my opinions: I have 9 years of hard data. That's what I used to uphold my thoughts. I don't think I was unfair and I certainly don't think I'm ignorant to the situation, the game, or to where the program stands today. Again, you might disagree, and that's ok.

I know where your loyalties lie, with regard to this University. I respect you for that. I value your opinion, hence the reason I've been asking for feedback on the podcast for a month.

I think it would be a whole lot of fun to discuss THE Conversation on the podcast. I think people would listen and I think people would love the banter. We can do it over bourbon and cigars. I'll supply whatever it takes to make it happen.

I just changed my mind. My schedule is STUPID for the next few weeks because of the overlap and my travel schedule. But if we can make it work, I'll go on the podcast.

It could be fun...and educational for some folks.

Willis, I saw you are planning to go on the podcast and I am sure the guys on it appreciate that decision. As far as participating here goes regarding men's basketball, I have a suggestion. If you think you have a point to make about actual play on the court, most would appreciate hearing it. You could still honor the gist of your stance by not participating in anything related to the staff. Many have said here appropriate time to visit that is after the season. Let's give them the chance to honor that position.

You are probably right in that any loss will find some (hopefully just a few) pointing fingers at the staff for it while they won't get any credit for good wins. That is the nature of fans. Just look at what was happening on the game thread in the first quarter of the Ark. State football game. Same folks were singing a different tune in the fourth quarter.
