I was there for the B.J. years. One of my favorite players. Was definitely a grinder. He had that chip on his shoulder but Tony managed it well and we all know what happened.
Tony often talked about players being soft. I remember years ago at a Diamond Club meeting someone asked him what had changed with players through the years and he said it wasn't the players it was the parents. Obviously there was a change in the players but his point was it was because of the parents.
I'm not sure how you deal with that in this day and age but I do believe that the team of coaches that has been put together will find a way to make it happen.
ya' gotta love b.j.'s
passion for the Cajuns!
The water hose saying always kind of made me laugh...our ball players may not have Momma bringing them a Gatorade...but they sure aren’t having to bring their own water jug into the Dug out each day...id say the trainers pamper them more than Momma’s...
