I want that good ____ he is smoking ... we heard that all last year leading up to the spring a guy with 2 months of college experience ran circles around lewis
He might be a world class practice player when the lights come on and ____ hits the fan some players crumble
Lewis however will be 1st all academic team
Man I sure hope our head coach, who has formally been an OC, QB coach, and WR coach at the highest level of college football is taking notes on how to pick a quarterback.
Boudreaux is a great box MLB, that’s where the majority of his tackles are made. He is not a sideline to sideline MLB. In fact, if he has a poor reaction to his initial reads he won’t make the play.
He isn’t nearly as talented as Justin Anderson was and even he was a half step to slow.
Opinions vary on his ability. I believe he will be the starter at QB for the Mississippi State game because of his leadership in the locker room and experience on the field. No other QB on the roster has started a game at the FCS or BCS level. On the other hand I don't think you bring in 5 QB's into that position room since January because you believe Levy Lewis is the answer. But if he can have a good year, the position will have talent going forward for the future.
Had a coach tell me last night, Jai'ave's arm is something he's never seen before. This coach would know something about this position and the mechanics of throwing a football. When you have a weapon like that, you won't see teams crowding the box like we saw last year. We didn't have the arm last year to scare defenses. That kind of arm will surely open the run game
We went from a lack of talent & depth last season,at arguably the most important position on the field, to a wealth of talent and depth this season. Yes, there is a lack D1 experience, except LL, but man give me talent and depth all day long!
I expect LL to look better than last season. He's smart, gifted and hard worker. No doubt he will look better than last season, but he still has a dimensional weakness and there are several, highly talented, right sized, individuals looking to start.
Clifton McDowell was impressive in the spring game. Braden Hawkins may be eligible and that dude can spin it. Oh, and let's not forget Chandler Fields, who has already become one of the team leaders this summer. Something is going to give, but competition is key at this level and they got plenty of it.
I don't disagree with anything you've stated in this post. That is why I believe Coach Napier will play two QB's this season, Levy and Jai'ave. Jai'ave is physically gifted, just needs reps. I've had several coaches in the program tell me there is very little chance Hawkins will play this season. The NCAA seldom rules for the athlete in such cases and has never done so for UL.
I like the discussion we are having on the QB's. It's likely to be a hot topic (again) this year and until we get that Broadway (pre-injury) type talent (or better) as our starter it will continue. I'm not a big fan of the 2 QB system, unless they are equal which is great then you have that backup ready to go. The problem at our level, if they are equal, it's not a good thing, in my opinion. We should have on the team someone who can take the reigns and go, and then meanwhile develop the next one in the wings. I for sure don't want to swap a high performing QB to a QB that struggles, it just doesn't make sense. I'm not saying Napier will do this, but all I have to go by is what I have seen. Like T said, there is a reason Napier is bringing in these QB's, he is searching.
