With the family of the late Tony Robichaux seated in the front row to his left, and his own family seated in the front row to his right, Matt Deggs was introduced during an emotional gathering Thursday as new head coach of the Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team.
Deggs was named to the job two weeks after the July 3 passing of Robichaux, who was UL’s head coach for 25 seasons since 1995 and who died 10 days after suffering a heart attack.
This man is on fire! I am excited about the future. This is the kind of energy needed around the Athletic Department. Deggs will bring Cajun Nation together and is what this fan base needs to unite. “Lock hand and hand and walk through the gate of Omaha”. Our team will compete for championships!
Congrats Coach Deggs, on becoming the Cajuns Head Baseball Coach. I admit, I'm not big into baseball, but the UL Baseball team and program has always made me a proud alum. I'm sure you will continue Coach Robe's legacy. Geaux Cajuns!
I really think we have a special guy! If you wanna hear his Father's Day message at The Ark Church here it is.

By the way this is the 28th post on this thread ! Only watch part of it before I posted, went back to watch the entire thing, realized what 28 stands for coach Deggs!
It ain’t right that robi’s gone.
The phrase "Cajun Nation" comes up quite often. Can anyone tell me where or who started that? I am not condemning it, I'm praising it.
Just remembering years back not hearing of it's us around UL athletics.
