COACHING UPDATE: I've spoken with a lot of sources on the @RaginCajunsBSB baseball search in the last 48 hours ... Here's what I think and here's what I know:

Basically says Maggard keeps it close to the vest but what he's heard from sources in Lafayette and other areas is that not many candidates discussed besides Deggs at this point. Says pay is not an issue from his sources and it's basically up to Deggs.

Not a huge update, but Rogers tends to think we're getting closer

All roads are leading to Matt Deggs, but we have been down these roads before and Dr Maggard has hidden roads that we don’t know where they lead.

I know people are being emotional/sentimental right now, but this was never Babineaux's job. Just because he has been here and "put in the time", does not make it so.

It's what's good/bad about the Cajun Nation. Loyal to the core and sometime too emotion to consider any other option. It's what makes this program and supporters unique, but also sometimes just eaten with the Ca'jun.

....Just because of the success of Cajun baseball, I don’t think Bab has a HC chance.....the question is if he is retained in some capacity......his experience and years of being such a loyal member helps keep him along with providing important info on the entire situation....like Des in the football hire......I personally hope he remains!

What Kendall says makes sense. What he says about Maggard possibly having an ace up his sleeve also makes sense.

If it's Deggs, it means either some staff changes (because he needs a pitching coach) or a solid volunteer hire.

I'm betting on the latter.

I do not have inside info. This is just my opinion.

12-20 whittled down to 5-6.

I think you may be underevaluating the program. I believe there were 50-75 resumes to go through. After that, I think Dr. Maggard probably cuts to a dozen and then has informal or formal interviews with 6-10.
