I know who the current signees were told they are going to get. I had a family member with one of them when he received the call.

......An LSU guy said he had heard the coastal Carolina......interesting?.....l.ldont know who really knows, but behooving of the ADs position is to have 5-10 backup names for any reason of a lost head coach......as mentioned, the politicians, academic bosses, friends, Lord knows how many applicants and coaches putting in a rec for a friend will be working communication lines to get Maggard’s ear!!!

Agreed. I don't know him but he has pretty strong ties in Texas and the Sam Houston gig isn't a bad deal.

I would advise KrazyKajun not to break this news on RP. This thing is too sensitive and I feel gross just thinking about a new skipper.

Obviously I wouldn’t drop any names before the U does. Things could have changed in the last week since the in coming class was contacted.

Not much due diligence is needed when you can just snag Perkins right out of STM.

That would definitely be hiring the opposite of Robe when it comes to achievements. Robe has done more with less for the majority of his career at UL. Perkins has done less with more for his entire career at STM. The 3 years in a row that TC won championships, STM had way more talent top to bottom. Thib is just a more hard nose kinda coach that demands more and gets more out of his kids. Kinda like Robe!

I agree and said that earlier after some idiot brought up the 3rd or 4th best high school baseball coach in Lafayette parish.

That may be how things use to be run over here...But not anymore. Maggard will listen to whoever feels the need to talk but he will make his own decision.

Nothing agasint Deggs, and would be happy if it is him, but Jake Gautreau just seems very much in the mold of Napier, and I could really see Maggard thinking that as well. But as many have said, I trust Maggard 100% to get us the possible candidate.

Sometimes people say things here because they’re genuinely excited and want to share it with RP community. I have on several occasions. I don’t have a problem with posting experiences, but I do think you should have permission of the source before you break anything significant here.
