No context should be needed. We need a pitching coach. All we have available is a voluntary assistant position. Who would think that we would be fortunate enough to find an ex star Cajun player and retired superstar mlb pitcher to be extatic about coming as a volunteer assistant. Considering, what else could we possibly want?
On get my comments wrong ... Yes, I'm very happy with the "hire". I think BJ will bring a wealth of knowledge due to his many years of experience and high level of play as a major leaguer.
With that said, yall are all expecting him to come in and turn out the best pitching staff just because of his "experience". In my opinion, that logic is flawed. With the same logic applied, the smartest person in the class has to be the best teacher right?
With that said, I do think we are in a position to be successful and I'm extremely excited with BJ as our pitching coach. Lets just not be disappointed if we dont have the best pitching staff in the Sun Belt. It may take some time for BJ to learn how to coach. The best teachers know how to reach their students. That is a totally different skill than Xs & Os.
The flawed logic is extracting that anyone thinks this will be the best pitching staff in the SBC just because BJ Ryan will be coaching them. Can you point to one post in this thread by me or anyone else that made that statement? Maybe I missed it, but it seems that is presumption on your part and not actually a fact.
Exactly. No one said we will be all-world out the gate. But I’m certainly expecting a better staff than the revolving door we had on the mound this year. Anything is better. Robe had already started the turnover process and was bringing in new players. A shame he won’t be here to coach them up, but I’m damn proud an All-Star Alum will be here to do right by him. That’s all.
Actually I do give you credit A-LOT of it. I know at times people on here ____ you off and at times you ____ them off, but at the end of the day I see your passion in UL sports and for the university. As the voice of the Cajuns your work is greatly appreciated. Not many radio guys call one sport good more less three good. We as cajun nation are blessed that you cover the three major sports and cover them well. For the games that I cant make I truly enjoy listening to you.
