Thread: Baseball Coaching Search 2019

Maggard delivers...again. This is by far the best AD we've seen since TDP. I'm getting concerned his resume' just keeps getting better every day where he may leave. This may appear to have been a no brainer hire, but obviously Maggard was pretty much all in emotionally on this one and still had to manage the process.

I personally think Dr Maggard may be the most important hire in the history of Ragin Cajuns athletics.

We can't worry ourselves about the inevitable, but we must hope he gets most of what he wants to do accomplished before that day.

Agreed.. If Deggs dont see the end of his contract that would mean we had success. Just like with Naps,Glasco, I ll take it.

If this hire works out, Deggs becomes the hottest coach in college baseball. That is a good thing, not a bad thing. If we need to hire a coach waaaay down the road, we have the best in the business to handle that.

If I had 5 thumbs, I would give them to you. Even though Dr. Maggard isn't from here, he has definitely become one of us. This is his home. Like Coach Deggs said, "Home is where the heart is." And you can see that Dr. Maggard's heart is here.

That may be the clincher for Maggard to stay.

I realize that coaches who stay at the same University throughout their career while passing up more lucrative jobs are very rare. Coach Robe was obviously one of these coaches as he no doubt had opportunities for bigger contracts throughout the years but chose to stay at UL. One of many reasons Cajun Nation was blessed to have Robe as a Coach at UL.

Does anyone have an idea what Degg’s dream job is? If he has success here to the point of getting to Omaha while earning nearly $500k / year coaching a Top 25 program will he stay put at UL or does he have aspirations to Coach in the SEC?

Robichaux was one in a million! I am not saying that a coach shouldn’t take a better job opportunity if the opportunity is afforded to him/her.
Robichaux found a place where he wanted to be and made a legacy, his name will be remember as long as Cajun Baseball is around. To me that is a person of integrity, and knew what was important. Which is very rare these days, and you will almost never find in today’s society.

He rewarded us with loyalty, loyalty to the fan base, his players, the community, the school and to his baseball team.

Now it’s time for the University to reward Robichaux ! The University needs to erect a Robichaux Memorial with a statue in his honor.
