Interesting article about JG health issues short circuiting his pro career after being a 1st round pick out of Tulane.

    Little known trivia.

Tommy Clark's famous at bat against Tulane in the ninth inning tied the game at 2-2. It was a triple. Next Batter was Danny Massiatte, who grounded to the second baseman. He kicked it and the winning run scored.

The second baseman was Jake Gautreau.

I had forgotten how good that team was. 48 wins. 35-8 at home.

I think it still might be the best hitting team in our history.

Nine .300 hitters in the lineup.

Actually it was ten + .300 hitters. Even the guys that didn't get enough at bats to make it official were knocking the ball around. Team was .327

2014 team comes up a close second. Eight hitters over 300 and as a team .317 with a .902 OPS.

What are your thoughts on the new hire, Jay? On Deggs & Gautreau in particular....or if you are keen on anyone else.

I doubt that Jay comments on this.

Anyone know where Freeman is headed? This hire is going to really be interesting to see who it is, who is retained, and who is looking for a job late july/early august. That can be a difficult task for assistants. Bottom line is if its an offense guy then a minimum of 1 guy will he gone possibly 2. If its a pitching guy everyone could potentially stay. Idk that will happen but it could.

Regardless who is hire I think we see a clean house unless bab stays in the baseball operations role..most coaches want their own guys
