Men's college basketball 3-point line extended to international distance

The game has changed.

What about the current game makes it no longer valuable to have height? You don't have to have a front line that averages 6'10 to be good but height is an obvious advantage. I'm thinking our staff agrees as we've made a big push since the end of season to go out and revamp our frontcourt with bigger, more athletic guys.

Speaking of bigs, GaSt's new coach has landed not one, but two, three star 6'10" HS recruits, and ULM picked up a 6'10 and a 7'0", who are JUCO's, I believe.

I am less worried about ULM's guys than the two at GaSt.

I talked with someone who knows their coach. He said they are happy to have those guys, but both are projects.

They hit with Majok Deng a few years ago who was a tall hybrid who could play inside and outside. He could block shots and hit threes.

I don't know that either of those guys are that good.

I am glad to see us getting more height, priovided they are either beasts or long and athletic. Just pointing out that other teams in the conference are addressing the lack of height as well.

To answer your question; probably so. No logic to it, but the perception is that taller is better.

Depends on how they play.

I would rather our bigs be 6'8" and play like C Mack than be 7 ' and play like Considine.

Moving the 3 point line will add value to bigs who are mobile rim protectors, as it will spread the floor.

It's like someone said, its how they play, not how big they are. I'll take the 6'8" athletic guy who has range any day of the week over the 6'11 guy who is a banger as you say. Justin Miller was as tall as the front court guys from Arkansas State but they played with more athleticism and were more effective at the rim. There are still plenty of big guys who come out and are dominant. Deandre Ayton comes to mind. It will be interesting to see the mid range game come back as the 3 point line is moved out creating more space.
