Thread: Summer Ellyson Softball America 2nd Team All-American

  1. UL Softball Summer Ellyson Softball America 2nd Team All-American

Softball America announced it's first-ever All-American teams on Wednesday, May 29.

The teams are broken down with four pitchers, two first basemen, two second basemen, two third basemen, two shortstops (except honorable mention), four outfielders, a utility/pitcher and a utility/non-pitcher or designated player.

The All-American names were voted on between the staff of SA and an advisory committee made up of softball personnel from around the country.

Julie Rawls made honorable mention catcher. Position change worked well. Both Ellyson and Rawls back next year.

So we will have 2 All-Americans on the mound next season, with Kleist coming in.

So based on nothing new coming in (with the exception of Kleist)

    1B--Gremillion/Curry
    2B--Chaumont
    SS--Dalton
    3B--Holland
    C--Rawls
    OF--Hudek
    OF--O'Neal
    OF--Talley/Mass
    DH--Curry
    P--Ellyson/Kleist

Obviously there will be some changes due to newcomers coming in and challenging for spots, but this is not a bad lineup.

Wow. Looks pretty good when you see it on paper. The strongest 1-2 punch we've had in the circle in a while (could be the best ever, we shall see) and a line up that can hit.

Holland just needs to see the field. She's had such bad luck with that injury. She can play and you know she'll be hungry having to watch from the dugout the past 2 years.

Does anyone remember the killer Bs. Brignac, Bourgeois and B. Cuevas? I think. Injuries really set us back but at that time I thought we had what it took to make it all the way.

Yeah that 2008 WCWS team was solid to say the least. Brignac and Bourgeois ate up most of the innings that season. Surprisingly, neither one was ever an NFCA All-American

Next year, the two pitchers we will have will both have been named All Americans previously. Pretty sure that's a first for us.
