One and done is totally out of the purview of the NCAA. They were never in favor of players leaving early. Obviously they can enact rules for the players who decide not to jump up after considering the jump up.

I never followed a single team in college because of individual players. I couldn’t care less if a Duke star leaves early.

Exactly.

The issue is that NCAA basketball has become a brothel for “1 and done” players and has caused the pandora box to open for shoe companies and other sports apparel companies to come in to make “under the table” deals. And even though these deals have always been around, they’ve skyrocketed tremendously over the past decade when the whole 1 and done rule came into effect. Plus, add in the way AAU has evolved with these companies; and you have the cluster we have today.

And to make matters worse, the NCAA doesn’t know how to detain this mess. But I say “oh well.” They helped create this turd mattress. They can now sleep in it.

Change to rules like baseball/football. Sign out of high school, or go to college and you are eligible after your junior year or 21 years old. If you don't like those options, go international for the three years until you're eligible for the NBA.

Bingo! This would greatly improve NCAA basketball. It would also allow for players to build a brand before entering the NBA.

Now they need to allow EA Sports back into the college sports games and distribute some proceeds to player stipends that universities pay already.

They need to adopt baseball rules pro or 3 years.. The college game would become so much better.

The pro leagues are the ones that sets the rules.

They work with the NCAA but they definitely carry more weight

I would think football is different due to the physical nature of the game and whether or not a 17/18 year old boy is ready to strap up against the Patrick Willis' of the game...now baseball and basketball?....no good theory from me

Each pro sport has its own rules on when they will allow players to join the sport at the pro level.

But these 5-star kids were getting fat checks going play at Duke / UK / Kansas that's going to be drying up with the FBI sniffing around.

Payment to players is nothing new to the NCAA. I don't think the FBI is going to continue worrying about this unless federal laws are being broken. A 5 star kid will get more exposure to land a larger deal once he does go to the NBA rather than the smaller salary he will receive in Europe but less exposure. These highly rated athletes make more on their endorsement dollar their first 4 years in the league due to salary cap restrictions on the rookie contracts. The way they make their money is endorsements but the impact of playing in Europe will not be as great as it would be if they were playing for a top team in the U.S. on TV 2-3 nights per week.

I hate seeing players leave early out of college or bypassing college all together because I'm a big fan of the college game but basketball has shown that players can succeed and do it quickly in the NBA, even out of H.S. Now, this is the exception and not the norm but it does happen. I personally like the 1 year out of H.S. rule for NBA eligibility but that's just me. Would prefer for it to be longer.

This option has been available for many players for some time. It doesn't get used often and I think the kids get more exposure playing in college here.

the good ones also get paid to play college ball here... that's no secret.
