No, I'm definitely not. I feel like the right steps are being taken, but it's definitely frustrating for all involved with this program, supporters and members of the program alike. This year was just so strange to have pitching fall off so hard and fast. High school pitching recruitment, as I mentioned in a previous comment, is so critical and to miss a few years in a row is pretty startling.

A lot will be riding on next year as it's going to be a very big turnover. But it's going to come down to seeing that the momentum has shifted and we're headed back up, but it will be a big challenge with what's returning. If the talent evaluation/recruitment improvement isnt evident soon, I will be near the end.

He was. Szefc is the most underappreciated coach we've ever had here. He didn't have Simoneaux's personality and he wasn't from around here. He was quiet for the most part (although he had a great sense of humor). But what many don't realize, in addition to being a very good hitting coach, he could recruit his ___ off. His 2005 team, average wise, is still the best we've had. We had nine .300 hitters in that lineup. (Note, the bats were different then). And, the 2007 team was good enough to get to Omaha. We got screwed out of a host site that year. There's a reason why he's a head coach in the ACC.

It’s almost unbelievable to me that Talbot is still employed here.

    And, why is that?

I will agree that a change needed to be made in our hitting coach. That change was made. Talbot now has the time to do what he does best, and that's recruit.

Now, before you start bringing up recruiting failures, let's remember how little time he had to do this in the past. That's why the staff was restructured.

I would suggest some of the failures in recruiting might have been magnified by the hitting philosophy. Perhaps under Wells there would have been fewer failures.

We will find out in the next two years whether having Talbot as head recruiter was a good move. But my goodness, some of you (not necessarily you, saints) act like the guy is a child molester or something.

I can't project what the recruits for next year will do. But I can say, we're beating SEC schools on some of these guys.

It should also be pointed out Talbot, while the recruiting coordinator, doesn't do all of the recruiting. Wells has had a hand in some of these guys and his reputation as a recruiter is a very good one.

The changes have been made. Let's give them time to work before we make any more judgments.

    I think that's fair.

A large number of the JC transfers in this class are from Well's connections.

Yes. But some are from Tal as well. And, with this new structure, Tal will be identifying a lot of talent that will be passed on to the other recruiters to be the main guys.

The bottom line is that when ANY HC stops evaluating the talent being brought into the program then you tend to see more misses. Not necessarily a lack of talent, but personalities clash and sometimes things don’t work out because of it.

It has been the downfall of many very very good coaches.

Good lord dude. Nobody has ever compared the man to a child molester. You are the only one to make those comments. What people have said, including myself, is that ever since he got hired the program has been in a downward spiral. I'm sure he's a great person, but as a baseball coach he is toxic to this program.

I think we will see if this new recruiting structure will pan out as early as next year at least potential wise.

As far as claiming that people compare JT to a child molester......well that might be stretching it just a bit.

You make otherwise sound arguments but diminish them with statements like "some of you act like the guy is a child molester or something."

The comments of his detractors have (as far as I have seen) been performance related in one way or the other.

    .
Sandusky could coach and recruit ....

Talbot can't coach or evaluate talent.
