It think it was 3 weeks to end the season with no midweeks. One was finals week and the other was a Thursday Friday Saturday conf weekend. So actually 1 regular week with no midweeks...I’m pretty sure
Where did I say the fans haven’t coddled the players enough? I listen to nearly every press conference and radio interview/program with the coaches, they say what everyone else is just not the way people here say it. If you actually listen they are saying it without f’n just ripping the guys. They have handheld it professionally, like they should. We are an average team sitting at .500, the coaches have made it clear big changes and turnover are on the way and they have done that publicly. This team knows they aren’t going to make a run even if they miraculously get in a regional. They have been hammered by most fans since the Texas series. I’m not surprised they don’t have the look of a “team on a mission” We won a play in game and not sure who we are gonna start next. We all know how this ends and so do they. I’m not laying blame anywhere just saying, does them coming out kind of nonchalant really surprise anyone? It is what it is.
Since no one seems to want to discuss tomorrow’s game I’ll switch to recruiting.
Have we made any progress on trackman, pitch analytics, etc? In one of Robe’s early season interviews he said that recruits want to see the latest technology, know their spin rates in practice etc. He said we were behind in this respect and how expensive it was to provide it. Has anything changed on this front since the beginning of the season and if so will it help or hinder future recruiting?
A team wins 7-2 while having “quit” and the “season is over”, I can’t wait to see what happens next. Guess they didn’t quit on the game enough to lose. Their mistake. I will be rooting for the boys the rest of the games, however many there are. And I will probably wait until the end to make any declarative statements.
The first time one of the coaches steps to the mic in a presser and says what needs to be said, or what they really want to say...he gets hung by this message board and fans on the street for throwing Joe Bob under the bus. It doesn’t surprise me because we have seen it before with teams that have not been great in the past, and I wouldn’t expect anything less from a Robe coached ballclub...but somehow they have stuck together and haven’t quit. They still have the grit to pull this out. Will they??? Idk. It may come to a point they just get outplayed or the lack of ability to pitch consistently fails them...but they will go down swinging...no pun intended
Lol yeah. No. No one here is saying that we need to practice more or that the big ole mean crowds make us nervous.
You flat out laid some of the blame with this team’s attitude on the negativity of the fans in this very thread. I personally don’t think this team is nonchalant, but it’s been proven numerous times this year they lack a certain mental toughness. That starts up top. I know for a fact there are guys on this team who want more baseball and less suicide rates among young men in America and why don’t we have Jesus in public school.
To improve and get better recruits. I understand our budget doesn’t allow for this but schools like Missouri where our AD’s are from have analytics staff for baseball. Typically a student worker majoring in statistics I would think.
Seems like we would want every competitive advantage possible rather than being behind the curve.
Kind of a related question but what are the notes on our softball hitters arms that they are always checking out while at bat? Percentages of pitch types based on the count? Or just confirmation of the sign from the coach?
Don’t see this in baseball and I noticed it alot in softball.
