It was a less than mediocre and disappointing regular season. However, as a fan, I will try to squeeze whatever joy I can out of the remainder of the games we play.

The season is still going and that is a good thing. Jake Wells deserves a lot if credit we are still playing. He is a wizard.

Definitely a large improvement with many of the same players from last year. Wells was a great hire. Let’s hope he has a large hand in recruiting.

Having him do a lot of the grunt work on that end is helpful I’m sure. I just hope Wells has a large part of the process at least in evaluating target players.

As the only other paid assistant seems like that's a lot of resources contributed for someone that just handles grunt work

Or it allows Wells to handle the amount of recruiting he is actually capable of while handling his other duties as hitting coach. Without a recruiting coordinator certain parts of both jobs could fall by the wayside because it’s all on him. You may be right. I guess we will find out over the next few years if this set up is effective. But I have been told that many of our past hitting coaches have been overworked due to having to do almost all of the recruiting.

I guess you could get rid of JT and Freeman and hire a pitching coach that is an ace recruiter.

And to be clear, I’m not defending JT here. I’m defending having a recruiting coordinator position.
