Bottom line for me. While I would have loved to see the players and Lafayette area fans rewarded, the Cajuns could have not asked for much more of a chance to prove everyone wrong with the draw they were given. This is as good an opportunity to get to the WCWS as could be envisioned.
Only thing I'm concerned about is the fact that outside of the Oklahoma game, the team hasn't really been challenged. I think we'll be ready though, and Glasco has already said they were going to use the lack of respect as extra motivation.
Geaux Cajuns!
...and these were teams invited to the Ragin Cajuns Classic, a tournament which we hosted.
I know the Sunbelt had some down teams this year, but playing/winning a Sunbelt Conference schedule does not give us what we need to be a national seed.
It is imperative that we play better non-conference games. If James Madison is suffering from the same situation, it seems like we should make an effort to play them. It appears Alabama needs to play better a better OOC schedule, so let's give them a call.
I'm very happy with where we are in the bracket, now let's just win our games and see how far we can go.
GEAUX CAJUNS!
Funny the best 3 teams not hosting could arguably be
UL
JMU
Drake
Or at least the toughest 3 teams not hosting.
I can never understand why being bad to mediocre in power conferences is initially rewarded only to be quickly bounced in the real world.
It was the perfect storm of RPI killers for the Cajuns...canceled games, weak conference, some usually strong opponents had down years, and even with all that we still just barely missed hosting.
I think we were treated fairly, we got a decent draw and we will be hosting plenty as the Glasco era progresses
We can’t do much better than 50/4.
The RPI factors in everything already presented here.
How well did you do? Who were your opponents? How well did you do against them? Who were your opponents opponents? How well did they do?
When everything was factored in, Louisiana tops Mississippi.
The NCAA says we don't just look at the RPI.
What do they look at? A piece of the RPI. Something that was already in the RPI.
They are double dipping, giving double value to something the RPI already factored in.
I like UL's chances, JMU aside, I don't like getting robbed of hosting.
I'm with you Turbine.
People have been saying time and time again that in softball RPI is the most controlling factor. We have been watching our RPI slowly go down knowing with our schedule we would probably not get down to 16 with constant analysis that no 16 or lower, no host.
Ok, that is fine, then we are made to travel to a team with a higher RPI than ours.
Go figure. They should just say it - we G5 and they giving the hosts to P5.
