Nah, it's much more fun to call someone an f'ing idiot and tell them they don't know dlck about what they're saying.. Being a fan? What's that...
Also, I'd love to know the amount of times we've said "highly rated JUCO" on this board when discussing that player not working out. Across all sports. I'd ventured to say 40% of our "highly rated JUCOs" ever pan out here. Kind of beside the point, but it occurred to me while I was reading.
I dont venture to other teams forums but I would imagine it's the same everywhere. It's just the nature of fandom. We are usually eternal optimists because it's no fun to be anything else. I mean since I was a little kid the mantra after the Saints season was "Next year!" As I've gotten older, the highs and lows of sports have leveled out some but I'm still expecting football to get to a bowl game, basketball to make the Dance and baseball to go to Omaha, in my heart.
Justin Miller is heading to Detroit Mercy. Good luck!
Detroit Mercy is a D1 university in the Horizon League. I wonder if this means he is going to get that waiver our coaches were working with him on. Said waiver would allow him to play immediately and not have to sit out. The Horizon League is one of the conferences the SBC was supposed to have an "alliance" with. I have not heard anymore about this actually occurring in recent weeks.
Mike Davis, the former Indiana coach, most recently at Texas Southern, is the Detroit Mercy coach.
Detroit Mercy had a nice little run from 09/10 season - 12/13 season. But has been next to awful since then.
In 09 the went 20-15, in '10 the went 17-16, their best two years recently were 11/12 and 12/13. In 11/12 they went 22-14 and won the Horizon League Championship and lost in the first round of the NCAA to Kansas, in 12/13 the went 20-13 and lost in the first round of the NIT. Since then it has been really bad.
13/14 season 13-19
14/15 season 15-18
15-16 season 16-15
16/17 season 8-23
17/18 season 8-24
18/19 season 11-20
I wish Justin all the luck in the world because he seems like a good kid who worked extremely hard to get to where he is. I will be following him to see how he does at Detroit Mercy. I think with the issues they have had in recent seasons he will have a chance to come in and contribute very quickly.
I wish Justin all the success he can find!
I remember him having a good game then.
