It's been discussed here many times. Basketball more than any sport players move simply because they only have five guys on the court at a time. Per the article regarding the portal, 807 players are searching greener pastures. 350 +/- D-1 teams, that is a whole lot of movement. Average 2+ per team.

Recall Register leaving, lit it up at LSU-A until his predictable cold streak came along. Don't know what ended up happening there...injury, benched, quit...don't know.

No. It's my opinion some of the things said about Justin were worse than anything said about Cantrelle.

Not that its important but some of the baseball threads we've had this year had worse things said about a lot of our players more than Miller. I've been critical of Miller only because he would give you some really great plays to be followed up with plays that kill teams. I won't back down from that criticism because I think its fair but I never questioned his heart or mental makeup like I've seen some do for baseball guys.

Justin Miller leaving is best for all involved. He was not a D1 player, he was exposed defensively constantly towards end of conference schedule. He wasn't going to see many minutes going forward. Great guy and wish him the best.

I just never liked the amount of turnovers and shot selection he showed as well as his defensive issues. I figured he would improve on much of that heading into his senior season so I would have liked to see him stay as he could have been a leader and his rebounding would have been welcome.

thanks for saying this. i dont believe some folks even know what a D1 players is, they just throw that out there when a player is not living up to their standards for the player. Justin produced at the D1 level, with decent numbers for several years. he is a D1 player. there are a lot of teams that make up the D1 division.

Back to Miller I’ve said this before but I think he was very talented but only had about 20 minutes a game in him. I would like to go back and compare his 1st half production to 2nd half over the course of his career. The Kansas game last year jumps out as an example of that. It’s unfortunate that he is moving on because with someone like Smith on the roster to complement him I think a plan could have been devised for a substitution pattern that would have kept him fresh, but I still understand why he made the decision. Oh and yes to say he was not a D1 player is ludicrous.

Exactly, the guy started on a D1 team, logged a ton of minutes in D1. Played as a freshman in D1. Was nearing a 1000 points in D1 but wasn’t a D1 player? Guys who aren’t D1 players usually don’t record a stat or have less than 10 points and or minutes in D1 before moving on to lower classification

Started 31 of 33 games as a freshman averaged 11.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game ... was 128-for-265 (.483) from the floor, 25-for-69 (.362) behind the 3-point line and 84-for-121 (.694) from the free throw line ... scored in double figures in 17 games, with three games of 20 or more points.

I don't think things had as much to do with his conditioning as it did his skill set. He was not going to help you much on defense and was obviously not a rim protector. Even his rebounding on the defensive end was average. Where he excelled was offensive rebounding. You can't have a lineup where he is the 5. You have to have him in there with a guy like Gant who can rebound as well and be a rim protector and weakside defender.

WOW, JUST WOW.

Many on this board focused on his sometimes unorthodox style of play and let those little moments mold their opinions about him as a player and refused to recognize the actual production and worth that he was to our teams over the past three years.

To keep it simple, there were way more moments when he was on the floor that one should look at him and shake their head up and down than shake their heads side to side. Some people just wanted to focus on the latter when commenting on this board.

Some are still doing it now that he has chosen a different path for his last year of eligibility. Shame, shame, shame if you are one of those.

Justin, focus on those that shake their head up and down. They have it right.
