Kid can jump too! Regarding his shooting ability, I've heard from a reliable source, Julien while rehabbing last season was taking 600-800 practice shots daily and averaging close to 80%. If that doesn't excite....
Only problem Julien may have is that he likes to fake his man, drive, and then pull up for a mid range shot. That is what he told people at the banquet. That does not fit with our NBA analytic philosophy of trying to take shots which are only in the paint or beyond the arc. I bet they adjust their plan if he starts making 60 percent of those mid range shots.

Gueye also likes to play on the perimeter. Excellent ball handler and passer.

I say go for it Julien. The analytic concept of 3 or layup is not always the best approach. People took this approach from GSW. The problem is they have the talent and skill to use it very well but some teams take it too far like the Rockets. You see guys like K. Thompson and Steph hitting lots of mid range shots now that teams are stacking the 3 point line and trying to run them off it. They take their shots where they get them. Durant is a master at the mid range turnaround shot that he has dominated in the playoffs with thus far. The rockets will literally pass up an open 12 footer for a 3 that is contested. I always believe a good shot is a good shot and an open shot is typically a good shot. If a guy excels at the mid range game and the pull up jumper, why change his game?

Correct. He's a stretch offensive player and I don't have problems with that at all except it will often take a potential rebounder away from the rim but I guess when I speak of positions, I'm most concerned with defensively.

If this is true, Julien will be my new favorite player. Analytics has contributed to the downfall of college basketball as much as the one-n-done. Take what the defense gives you. If that's a 17 footer, take it. Take the best shot available, I don't care where that shot might be from on the floor.

It also appears the three point line will be moved back to international distance beginning this year. Mid range jumpers could be more important than ever.

I love the 3 point shot line being moved back. Hopefully the return to a traditional big man/center will return .. The college game should benefit.

Ok, I can guarantee that he will not play the 3 position for UL. He was the Center on his team in HS, yes he can step out and shoot the three, but his ball handling skills and being a consistent 3 point threat is not of a guard or 3 man. He will be at the 4 position for us. Marquetti was a 3 man for us. Julien is no where close to Marquetti when it comes to the guard position.

Excellent ball handler? Fellas are we pumping these guys up. What film did we see where he is a excellent ball handler? The kid is good, but he like Julian will be at the 4-5 position, stepping out from time to time to run the same offense we been running for 10 years, but neither him nor Julian will be guards for us.

Once again have we seen the teams in the SUNBELT? Nobody has a huge team, all the 4s for years have been 6'6" at best. You guys are pulling the wool over your own eyes.

I like the talent we will have on the team next year, but we do the same thing every year. We hype these guys up so much, then soon as they do not play up to the standards ragin pagin sets, we bash them. I say let them play then praise them.

Really? I'll take that bet. I'm not saying he won't move the PF at times in a smaller lineup but I guarantee you he starts on the wing as our 3. I'm not really sure what being a center on your HS team has to do with it. Where you translate at the next level often has little to nothing to do where you play in HS. You could be 6'2" on your HS team and play center to go play SG in college. The main difference he'll see in college is on the defensive end. Even at Center in HS, he was matched up with guys his size or smaller. At PF or C, he would be undersized against just about any team out there. Just in case you didn't know what position he was being recruited for, see the link.
