Julien can play inside. However, he told me at the post season banquet he does plan to play lots of minutes at the 3 spot next year. I predict we will have Smith and Johnson start at the big positions with Julien at the three. Kobe may rotate inside quite a bit when one of the starting bigs goes to the bench.
I’m not gonna lie...I’m excited to see these young in-state talents lace them up...
I agree that Julien is more suited to play the 3 than the 4. Really even if Johnson plays at the 4 he will be more of a stretch 4 instead of a true big man. Looking back at his sophomore season at St. Louis more than half of his made field goals were from 3pt range. He also didn’t appear to be a real inside banger type as he was 5th on the team in both rebounds and free throw attempts per minutes played.
Back to the Davis announcement I am disappointed too but he obviously knew what he was up against competing for minutes with Johnson and Julien who he would have practiced against last year. The addition of Gueye I think just eats into available minutes even more so and could have factored in to his decision.
Don’t know how many of you saw Julien play in high school. I did. He is definitely a 3 primary position and naturally plays the 4 as well. In a crunch with his quick first step, excellent ball handling and passing skills, Julien could play a big point...he is deceptively fast. His relaxed demeanor throws defenders off balance. Kid can jump too! Regarding his shooting ability, I’ve heard from a reliable source, Julien while rehabbing last season was taking 600-800 practice shots daily and averaging close to 80%. If that doesn’t excite....
Yes master
Probably shouldn't post that.
