I think there are six. Two were announced early. Two signed late. Two we are getting for free for one year and won't be announced. The Texas Tech kid is one of the freebies. The other, I believe, is from Minnesota.
Just my opinion, but I think the three natural freshmen all have some ability. Had we had a "normal" staff, they might have redshirted this year. It's all about development for them. Their velocity is good enough to win. I wouldn't count them out of the future plans. We'll see.
At least we have something to build from regarding the pitching staff. The big concern is position players to me. Outside of Cantrelle, Breaux, a healthy Bourgeois, Windham, and Soto it's pretty much wide open from what I see with no real guarantees even in the group I just mentioned aside from maybe Breaux and Cantrelle. It'll be interesting will all the new kids coming in.
Savoy has shown flashes. I’d like to see him get another shot. If, and only if, Batty could become a strike thrower he could help us. But he’s never been able to duplicate the midweek start he had in Thibideaux.
Wedman. Should have started Wedman.
