Rayne - Search for escaped convict continues
Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon reports that at approximately 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, officials with the Richwood Correction Center in Claiborne Parish notified his office that 19-year-old Steven Dietz had escaped from a work release program Tuesday.
According to Sheriff Melancon, Dietz who is described as a white male, 5’9”, weighing 162 lbs., brown hair, hazel eyes was serving 6 years for several crimes that were committed in Acadia Parish.
Dietz is from the Evangeline area and law enforcement officials have reason to believe that he may be enroute to the area.
