It depends if the faculty vehicles are part of the agreement. If that goes away with the car show then I’d say we would be taking a hit financially.

Same could be said about the dealerships

Mickey Comboy and Mr. Adreian would tell us at least a quarter of all Acadiana's Dodge's sales were sold at the car show or at least started at the car show

And there is the million dollar question. What is in said agreement and is it open-ended? My life experiences have taught me there are very few if any contracts that are open-ended. So again, if a number of dealerships are no longer participating in coaches or faculty vehicles because it is no longer financially viable for them, than why would an aged agreement be acceptable at this point? It doesn't matter to me if the car show and coaches/faculty vehicle agreements are separate matters, one can be used to help renegotiate the other if both parties are willing.

That is the question and it’s hard to answer anything without knowing the details. That’s the biggest thing, it takes both sides wanting to and if what that guy said in the other thread is true it doesn’t sound like they are. Also, I think people’s biggest problem is the effect on parking for Cajun fans, maybe they can renegotiate the space in the near future. Protect the grass area and move part of the car show towards the east side. Losing $200k in car leases to try and gain $38k in rent isn’t smart business. You could lose the car leases, the 12k in rent and sour the relationships with the dealerships and the university. Is the risk worth the reward? That’s assuming the leases are connected to the car show but we don’t know all the details.

I dont' have the exact number, but I'm pretty certain we have more than 25 leased vehicles.

Well if they are "leased vehicles" then the dealership is getting money for providing them, in which case, why is that part of this conversation?

Hell, give each person that buys a car 2 free tickets. Its the only gain that would get at this point. Higher announced attendance.

My mother purchased a car from Giles and was offered a set of two season tickets for UL. Had the option to select the sport.

That's why you make them pay full price for the tickets $200 × number of cars sold

Higher reported attendance and fair price for the use of CF

Or tell LADA to kick rocks and offer each dealerships 15k to use CF for that weekend

There is no longer any logic in this thread.

The dealerships are getting rheemed by LADA (Each dealership is paying $25,000, its LADA that is just paying us only $12,000)

The Dealerships give us free cars (not the LADA)

It appears that the LADA is taking at least some of this money received on the event and giving it away to charities other than UL. If that is correct, indirectly UL is making donations of its property which is illegal)

Why would anyone want to again tax the Dealerships with some type of extra charge ( per vehicle charge or % of sales charge) as it relates to this arrangement? They are giving us free vehicles and paying LADA an absorbadent fee to be there already. It’s our deal with LADA that needs to change.

LADA is a non-profit serving to advertise for its member dealers. Those members each contribute money to LADA so that LADA can organize the yearly car show. It’s not like LADA is looking to make a profit off of this event.

Rent to UL isn’t the only expense that LADA covers for the event. Raise the rent and LADA will just have to increase the amount that each dealership contributes to LADA

First off I think this thread just makes all parties look bad. I do not know much about the car business, but I would assume in a bottom line that LADA provides more service to dealers than just the car show. They may provide professional and community education or lobbying assistance, etc.
I also assume the university gets more help and support from the dealers than the car show. We already know how UL helps by providing the venue. Really would the car show have as much success if held out in open field in the boondocks somewhere. I know we can probably improve the situation and be more transparent. But lets focus on the positives and build up UL and all it's boosters instead of making everyone out to be spawns of Satan.
