Thread: Robichaux despises the three-run inning

  1. UL Baseball Robichaux despises the three-run inning

UL baseball head coach Tony Robichaux hates the three-run inning.

Any amount larger than three runs in a single inning -like the five runs the Cajuns gave up Sunday or the nine runs they gave up Friday against Texas State- is almost certain to lead to a loss, according to Robichaux.

Despise is a strong word. I’d definitely say that I’m not in love with the idea of the 3 run inning, though.

    😂. I’m sticking with despise.

    What about 9 run innings?

Maybe our pitching coach should fix it. Oh wait

And we thought the game passed him by! Big Robe dropping knowledge bombs!

I get that we pitch against the 3 run inning, but so often in past years we used the sacrifice bunt which would be the opposite of hitting for the 3 run inning. Never understood this from Robe.

Thats an interesting point. Next level thinking right there. Can you recruit?

This year, sometimes, we have even struggled with that strategy. We are even having a difficult time recruit bunters these days.

    I also don't comprehend the either/or philosophy.

Allowing as few runs as possible and scoring as many as you can (simultaneously) seems like a much better model.

Maybe someone should let Robicheaux know if you score more runs than the other team, you'll win. He could put that in his book. Wait, too late, he already wrote his book. Shucks!

Gonna be interesting to see how many fans fall for the recruiting BS. Not gonna recruit your way outta this mess with this coaching staff. Hit .242 last year. Hit .266 year before. Hitting .266 this year.

They can blame the players all they want, but it's on the coaches. No pitching and no hitting.
