Wonder if he was a PWO

He's got Division II offers. He is a little under sized and was somewhat unknown going into the summer. He is definitely on more folks radar today than he was in May. His position coach at the camp Saturday told him he had a great day and he was very impressed with him. He said he thought he performed the best out there on Saturday at his position. There were kids out there with some pretty big offers in hand. He has a few FCS in state taking hard look since their camps also. Thanks for asking Cajun fan1 not sure who you talked to but I sure appreciate the kind words.

His daddy actually said it's because of his stop at the juco last semester. He didn't go into detail on the rule that states the reason for his ineligibility.

I've watched his son a lot over the last 2 years. If he had the stature of his cross town rival he'd have D1 offers no doubt. Kid is accurate and can flat out spin it.

He won't be eligible. He had a choice of playing in JC this fall or sitting out and signing in December. We are fortunate that he decided to come in this summer.

Can he participate at practice? If so, this makes our offensive scout team a lot better! The defense will reap the rewards.

Thanks BJ....now I can focus on the other QB's in camp!

Regarding the opportunity to see PT, I have to admit, FR McDowell impressed me the little I saw of him (1st half of red & white game only). He has impressive size and his mechanics looked better than what I saw in his HS video. Being a FR will make it a bigger leap for him to see significant playing time, but he's certainly looks the part.

JaiAve looked like he was still favoring his knee. His throwing motion is very natural and powerful. Hope he has fully recovered physically and mentally from that injury. He has experience as a starting QB at the Juco level. He looked poised in the pocket, especially when you consider he was running a new offense.

Levi doesn't move the needle for me. To play QB at his size, he would need to be extremely elusive and very, very fast or a have a big time arm. We saw a little of the elusiveness in his first season, especially at S.AL, but didn't see it last season. His arm is adequate. He's smart and knows the offense and would be an easy choice to start with our backfield and receiver group, but only if we didn't have a better option.

Didn't see any of Kolbacher. Chandler Fields coming in as pocket passer, has a much smaller chance to see any PT. I'd favor a dual threat QB, if we had to go with a FR at that position. McDowell had the whole spring to learn the offense too. Josh Bolfing?

I hope to make some of the scrimmages this summer. We certainly will have competition at arguably the most important position on the team. Much better shape this year, than last. Not sure about the dual QB system we saw last season. Don't like taking a guy out that's hot and moving the ball down the field. No problem pulling the starter if things are not going well, but question making a change for the sake of following a script.

Isn't Chandler Fields considered more of a dual threat guy?

I think you will see Levi and JaiAve rotate early in the season. JaiAve is expected to be 100% by August, hopefully he doesn't have any setbacks. We all need to remember that JaiAve has not played a down in D1 Football yet. While I agree with you he has all the tools, what he doesn't have is snaps against any D1 program much less an SEC program. I wouldn't be surprised to see Levi start against Miss. State and Ohio. He has played snaps against Miss State, Alabama and Texas A&M in recent years.

To me it will be interesting as to which QB gets the start opening conference play. That will tell us Coach Napier's decision and who will be getting the backup role at that point going forward.

If for any unsuspected miracle should happen and Hawkins is cleared to play, all bets are off.

Thanks. But I really didn’t want to get that position specific on the public forum.

If your kid plays for the Cajuns you might want to avoid RP altogether.
