There is more condemnation on this board than ever before. It's getting so that you can't make a comment without someone getting on your case about what you said. Whether your opinion is right or wrong, it's an opinion, and it yours. Well this is mind, whether someone agrees with it. So I guess I can wait to be condemned for it........

In Robichaux's system, pitchers need to see the "K" wall to be successful.

    That system sure isn't working.

Just wondering why the coaches aren't being held responsible for nine losses out of the last twelve games. It's a legitimate question, IMO. Losing record both at home and away. I mean it's the Sunbelt and I don't see an excuse for the sad conference record either. Putting this abysmal record on the players is a cop-out, IMO.

They’d rather put the blame on injuries, or on the schedule (that Bab made), or on the immense pressure of playing at home than on the coaching staff preparing the team.

All the while the stands are getting more empty every game. And fans are talking about dropping their season tickets. UL beat the toughest team they played - LSU. But they're not prepared to beat teams half as good. I'll say it again, it's not the players.

Talented players not catching pop-ups in the outfield is a sign something is wrong in this program, IMO. Players not communicating with each other and a lot of swings in the box that just don't look good. Again, my opinion, but something aint right. No amount of spin can cover what I'm seeing.

You are correct. The players are doing he best they can. What you are seeing is mediocre talent and damaged goods. The talent level on the team is the coaches' responsibility. No one else. We are seeing fans vote with their feet.

The school-owned media would like everybody to sit still, be quiet. Don't hurt anyone's feelings. Somebody screwed up my team and I am p____ed.

Dad04, am I hearing you right in that I'm thinking you believe the team has a lack of talent on the field?

Yes. That is my opinion. Talent level is ankle deep. These kids have been playing the game 10-15 years before they get here. They either have God given ability, or not. We can massage around the edges with hitting tips and drills. The pitchers can pick up stuff in the bullpen and learn Robe's system. Coaches are not miracle workers. This whole thing is won or lost recruiting.

The rest of coaching is combining parts into a sum greater than the parts. Chemistry in the clubhouse. One red dog leader pushing the team into belief in themselves as individuals, and as a team. That art appears to be on vacation. This team lost any swag it had years ago.

One good example is runners in scoring position. We suck at that. We can't knock in a runner if you put it on a tee. Our offense has improved, but it only improved from pitiful to average. We are 96th nationally in slugging %, but only 137th on base and 158th in overall batting average. Upside is limited by talent.

Dad04, me and you couldn't be farther apart on our views of this team.

I'd recommend a reference back at the offense and team record when Deggs was here teaching hitting. And, what happened to the hitting after Deggs left. And, notice the vast improvement in the offense at Sam Houston State after Deggs got there. It's pretty incredible when you break it down.

And, again, the same players who beat LSU are the same players on the field now. They didn't lack the chemistry and leadership to get that done. Baseball is about coaching. And, coaching is about teaching. You can believe, and i know this, in college programs the players are being taught something. That teaching is either competent or it's not.

You are entitled to your opinion. Deggs was the recruiter here when he left. He brought in all the JUCO talent we had here in 2014. When he left so did his recruiting efforts for us. He is a good recruiter and a good hitting coach.

Vast improvement? Sam Houston State was 43-19 and ranked 38th in runs produced in the nation the season BEFORE Deggs got there. Their record dropped to 31-28 his first season at Sam because he went there with none of his recruits. If baseball was really all about coaching, then why did Sam Houston State win 12 less games his 1st season as head coach? Just asking since you brought it up.

Beating LSU in a midweek game means absolutely nothing. This isn't football. Any team can get pumped up for one game. It takes talent to do it all season. LSU is over rated. Everybody knows that.

Baseball is a team sport just like football and basketball. Do experts ever say recruiting is irrelevant in those sports? It is all about recruiting. Always will be.
