JMO: for a radio broadcaster, you have to understand you can see the game and your audience can’t. If you were listening to the top of the 2nd, Cantrelle hit a single to right center. Jay’s call: “ball hit to right center........and it’s bobbled. Lochridge on his way to third.” Eventually says later that it should be a hit and an error. But as a listener you have no way to tell from the call was this a single and a bobble or a bobbled fly ball.

No doubt man. Jay’s been the guy my whole life, so I’m used to it. Jay is also notorious for dead air during baseball games. Ask around on the board and you’ll find a lot of people who have turned on a radio broadcast and thought there were technical difficulties for 30+ seconds until he finally breaks the silence. Having Topham as color has really helped in that regard.
