It seems like Robe was hellbent on getting the most out of Gunner that he could. Preserving the bullpen for what should have been a 1-0 start to the series. It really didn’t work out. That was a momentum crushing loss to the team that you HAD to beat.

Don’t blame him one bit for leaving Gunner in. He was burnt for the weekend after he completed the 8th. Who you bring in? Shultz...who was extended on Tuesday against LSU and could only give you one inning? And then he’s burnt for the rest of the weekend?

The bottom line is: we wouldn’t even be questioning leaving Gunner in had Cantrelle turned the double play to end the game.

Well if you think about it this forum has been pretty rough after our terrible Friday night games the last few weeks and they come out on Saturdays looking like world beaters. Maybe we should get meaner?

Agreed. Gunner wasn’t good, but he should have gotten a pass with that double play. You always second guess the choice to leave a pitcher in. Gunner usually doesn’t struggle like that. Much less agsinst multiple batters to the point where you say 4 batters before the wining hit “Gunner needs to sit.”
