To me, the bigger thing is getting out of the Sun Belt which benefit the program a lot more than some name branding. Oh and the most important thing that helps with name branding is WINNING!

For example, lets look at UCF (University of central Florida) it sure has not hurt them. Keep thinking that the name has something do with wins and losses if you want to.

What about Coastal Carolina, Western Ky, Middle Tenn St as a few other examples. Believe what you want.

And guess what. The only time the baseball team made the CWS and basketball team won a game in the NCAA tourney - guess what our name was????

No, I am not attached. But if you think the name University of Louisiana will lead to more success for the program will....keep dreaming.


But University of Louisiana name has really moved the overall program to the next level...LOL

You are correct it was changed in 1999, I was wrong. So I guess this is why the baseball team made the CWS due to the name change! LOL
