Who wants to go back and look at the WP of the 33 at-large teams in the 2018 tournament? If I remember correctly, Troy was one of the last four in (maybe last team in) and their WP at selection time was .672. So yea, .600 ball isn’t good enough.

Nobody said it was good enough. There is a difference between good enough and a fireable offense. Yes, 600 year in and year put is not enough. We are now approaching that number too many years in a row.

What about a .600 winning percentage over a 25 year stint? Year in and year out, is that enough?

Better yet, do they have a member with an Omaha ring?

Talking about at large here. Point is .600 in SEC gets you in almost every year. .600 in the sunbelt gets you in once in a blue moon. .600 in the southland doesn’t sniff the tourney.

I’m not sure about this, but didn’t 35-21-1 put us Not far out of getting in the tournament in 2017?

Aren’t there about 300 D 1 teams and only 64 make it. I’m thinking .600 baseball is not far from the line.

College baseball teams are measured by regional bids. That will never change. 2017 pitching was lights out. Top 10 WHIP and ERA. Offense was not good enough resulting from JT coaching, possibly recruiting.

Winning % is not relevant for at large bids. SEC routinely gets ( conf) .500 teams in. The committee looks at everything else but overall record. It's RPI a buncha different ways.

I’d say it’s 25% relevant.

For a mid-major, a good WP is even more important.

True. By definition a mid major wont get in without 35+ wins, so their RPI is a byproduct of the record. That is true. Hard to separate the two for all but SEC.

Probably 90% of the time. Baseball legacy is all about postseason from high school on up.

A high school teammate of my son is the bench coach for St. Louis Cards at 32. Why? He was a wizard minor league manager after his playing career. Won everything.
