That's exactly what he was saying. The rough start put us in this position.

Right now, I understand the frustrations being 17-18. Last night, we looked "bland" as a whole. But I definitely wouldn't say it's time for a change quite yet. This coaching staff at least deserves some time to fix the issues at hand, especially with a new hitting system still being implemented.

But with that being said, people aren't going to continue to pay these types of prices to attend games if our play doesn't improve. A fairly big benefactor told me last night that the money they are paying right now does not compliment what he's seeing on the field. And I can't really disagree with that. But I will hold my judgements at least until Sunday to see how the team responds against McNeese tonight and South Al this weekend.

I think you are mistaking my post for for a defense of what's going on. It was a declaration of what I've come to expect with recruiting and development of players the last 4 years.

Sounds familiar, can't recall who got shredded over that remark.
He confirmed that last week on snote. What we saw last night was the difference in quality between an 89 RPI team in Arky State and a 42 RPI team in LA Tech.

We are very inconsistent, so it's a day-by-day thing with us. It is what it is. That said, we actually do have the potential to get hot at the tourney, precisely because we are so inconsistent.

I'll be next. Question : When will mediocrity in all sports here stop being accepted? Next.... when will we stop trying to pattern ourselves toward the Alabama model or other major programs that have money and talent that we'll NEVER have? Next......when will we start looking at maybe trying to model ourselves toward a Central Florida in football, a Gonzaga in basketball, and a Coastal Carolina in baseball ? Much more realistic. Next...…...when are we [THE LOCAL MEDIA] going to stop making excuses for a poor product ? You talk about the fact that "changes have been made". What, creating two positions and adding one more ? That kind of change ? Give me a break.

You're starting to see what Wells means to the program. The rest of the changes will be manifested in recruiting.

I realize we want it and we want it now. It's what we are as a society. And, I realize no one wants to hear that a little more patience is required.

But, as I said, the changes have been made.
Wow, so you don't realize that this is about putting _____E$ in the seats. You don't realize that this is about WINNING. About taking the next step. It seems to be a lot easier just to say that this will take time or give it time. Go try and tell that to the folks in Baton Rouge or Tuscaloosa, Austin, or any other big time athletic program in the country. So while we're "giving it time", we'll continue to be average at best right [and I'm not talking just baseball here] ? Just say it. We're cool with being average. And when the fans finally have had enough, then what ? It's reality and it's near.

I’m pretty sure everyone understands that basketball schedule is about March not an at large option. That’s not the case in baseball where our actual play determines if we might be a at large program.

Well my question, if you read it, is “at what point...”. In fact, that’s the title of the thread.

So, how many missed Regionals would trigger such consideration? Or does it not matter as long as we’re still Top 20 in attendance? Or does it not matter ever?

You seem to have the proper insider knowledge everyone craves, so what are your thoughts?

It is simple. You make a change once you are convinced the coach will not be able to reach the goals you have set for the program.

Fans focus too much on past performance and not enough on the future. Yes, we have Robe this year, and yes this year’s team is obviously underwhelming. But the real question is does Robe have the ability to put a successful team on the field over the next 3 years? If he does, we should keep him. If he doesn’t, then it is time to give him one hell of a retirement celebration.

I don’t know enough about baseball to know the answer to that question.

    Not this season.

It doesn't matter what my thoughts are. As has been shown in this thread, any opinions or knowledge I have just makes me a sunshine pumper. No one is going to accept, or believe what I have to say because I'm not ripping the program like some people think I should.

I stand by what I said about no change is coming. I do not know at what point that might change. And, what I said is not my opinion, it's the way it is.

I've talked to those that matter. There is no change coming. Now if people want to rip my ___ for that, that's fine.
