I don't know why everyone is dispelling Gunners injury in that he shouldn't be here in first place, which is true...but the facts are that he IS here, was counted on the roster preseason and is still here...his injury battle is 100% effecting this years team, regardless if he was good enough to leave 2 years ago

How productive is complaining about a severely injured pitcher who would never have been here without the injury? If the irony and futility of that exercise is not plainly obvious, then I can't help you. Robe can't fix his arm. He needs to focus in other areas. Did anybody consider the likelihood of recovering from two surgeries and only missing a season was hopeful at best?

Say somebody gave you a car that no longer was driveable, because it was no longer drivable. For two years you complain about your car that is not useable, that you would never have if it was useable. That makes a lot of sense.

I get it. The pitching is bad, but crying for two years over Gunner has not helped our ERA, has it? Exactly when will the whining help us win? I guess its easier to dwell on what you can't control than all the decisions that got us here in the first place.

Agreed for the most part. Still he’s got more problems than Gunner being unavailable. Wish he’d fix those instead of lamenting Gunner injuries that he cannot fix.

Just a thought. Robe has stated that you wanna build something solid enough, so that when you walk away it doesn’t crumble immediately. Would the same not apply for building something strong enough so that if a guy goes down it doesn’t crumble?

I mean even if Gunner pitches: he cant turn the double play himself, he can’t catch the fly ball himself, and maybe it would have been his responsibility to cover first so that when a guy is caught in no man’s land dead to rights he can’t just stroll back to first (I’m not sure whose assignment that was).

When I look at this team, a big problem I see is with Gunner out we don’t have any Gunner type guys to pick us up. I don’t mean talent wise. We obviously won’t have just another top 2-3 pitcher in school history sitting around. But enough Gunners mentally. Guys who are tough enough for where the moment doesn’t consume them. We looked like a chance at .500 and a chance to beat a Sun Belt division leader was much too big of a moment for us last night.

Take everything into context.

In Robichaux's system he endorses draftable players leaving after their junior year.

Two years ago as a junior Gunner's replacement should have already been recruited or in the process of being recruited.

For some reason it didn't happen and it wasn't because he was counting on Gunner.

Robichaux has never gone this long without a viable lights out Friday night starter.

Mentioning Gunner's unavailability is a red herring. On the other hand, his availability would be lagniappe.
