Most college players have two dreams. Omaha and playing professional baseball. Only one reason for drafted guy to stay after junior year if you aren’t injured, and that is Omaha. If the player looks ahead and doesn’t believe it is probable, they go follow their other dream. Pro players have to live off of signing bonus or mom and dad. Majority of the time senior signs get peanuts of a signing bonus compared to juniors.
Had Gunner been healthy, his best option would have been going pro. He was peaking at the time while the team was declining.
