He said 5 years ago this wasn't the case, but today, the owners of The Advocate understand the importance and relevance of UL and Lafayette (Acadiana) and are on board with promoting the second largest university in the state. (Not to mention when we achieve Doc I status in the near future.) We are going to see headers in BR, Acadiana and in NO that say Louisiana or Louisiana Ragin Cajuns and the articles will be using Louisiana as our reference as well as UL. No more UL-Lafayette. This was all agreed to and should have been implemented from day one. But, the guy in charge of implementation at The Advocate resisted as an LSU guy, and management is getting this corrected. And, Learfield is pushing our Louisiana branding initiative within its client base that includes many prominent universities around the country as well as several state-wide schools in Louisiana and, of course, the national media.

What a dynamic guy Brian Bille is as a UL alum, a long time resident of Lafayette, and a former Advertiser employee. Great things are happening at UL and our marketing is in great hands. I am so pumped after talking to him.
Let’s find out the name and contact info for the LSUA&M dweeb employee at the Advocate and let RPers say “hello”.

Home teams are usually where the broadcast is determined. When they announced the schedule, there was a graphic that said game was on ESPN+. Doesn't mean that graphic was correct and/or that couldn't change, but I don't see anyone picking up this game. I doubt any national outlets wanna carry it.

I believe all SEC games are contracted to be shown on an ESPN network unless otherwise broadcast on another national network. Not sure ESPN+ meets the ESPN contract with the SEC. Just my understanding.

This actually makes a lot of sense.

Brian is top notch. He was named "Rookie of the Year" by Learfield/IMG College. Works his tail off and is a man of his word.

My understanding is that The Advocate agreed to the following:

    Follow our branding guidelines.
Use of Louisiana, Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, and UL Ragin Cajuns in articles and headings.
No longer reference to UL-Lafayette athletically.
To be implemented for BR, NO and Acadiana editions.

This should have been implemented at the time the announcement was made. Internal obstruction at The Advocate is being corrected. The Acadiana edition is now corrected from UL-Lafayette to UL Ragin Cajuns on the Sports header. That could stay or change to Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, which is preferred. Next correction should be to the BR edition. The NO edition should see the UL or Louisiana Ragin Cajuns header added and articles on UL included. The writers can/should start using Louisiana and not just UL in their articles. Complete implementation is being addressed by UL with The Advocate and completion is expected shortly.

Is he only covering Cajuns? He's not doing prep stuff?

Understood...but it might help with our expectations if we knew how long these corrections are expected to get done. Wonder if Brian gave you any indication of such.

Sure seems to me that this would be a real easy fix for their web page guy.....once he gets the go-foward order. Not that I doubt either what Brian told you, or that we are doing our best to get them to comply. I just don't trust those BTR/lsu jerks.
