I’m of the opinion that nothing is spoken in plain English. You know what the meaning of is, is.
This is some very interesting data. While Southern Miss has been unable to make it through a regional as many times as we have, they have had the opportunity to on a more consistent basis. Fresno State was mentioned earlier and they are the reason I am of the belief that getting in the tourney is the most important measuring stick. You can't win it all if you aren't in to begin with. 9 vs 13 seems very similar but our trajectory is much more of a roller coaster. The biggest difference to note since 2002 is that the only lull in Southern Miss's postseason berths was during a coaching transition. On the other hand, as someone has posted in the past, we have endured the peaks and valleys with the same head coach. Anyone can build up tony using this data just as easy as anyone can tear him down. All I can say is I'd prefer to have the consistency of Southern Miss at this point.
We have certainly not been as consistent as USM getting to regionals. I also find interesting their long streaks of consecutive regional appearances, nine in a row, missed four while Coach Berry gets settled, now four more in a row, assuming they get in this year.
I know our goal is a regional and super every year. How does USM with TWO SEC's in state do it more often that us?
Of course, our four supers since 1999 may trump their 13 regionals.
"I called you out on the Cape because you set this up like Cantrell's got this great invite. You know that is not how it works - coaches pretty much decide who of their players get invited there."
"Don't get me wrong, Cantrelle is a great player, however, he is afforded way more privilege then any player I have ever seen at UL to succeed."
" When I see posters tooting his horn like he is the only player that is any good on our team, I feel it important to identify that the opportunities afforded him have been much greater than the opportunities afforded most on this team and that to judge others in comparison to him without noting such is just not fair."
"Show me where Loch was put it the lineup to start the season and left in "until it came around." That is the luxury Cantrelle has had for two seasons that NOBODY else has had. Everyone else has to produce with the pine riding their butts."
These are just a few of your comments concerning Cantrelle. But oh no, it's not personal. "He is afforded way more privilege then any player I have ever seen at UL to succeed." Really, are you serious? With all due respect, I need to put on a pair of rubber boots to wade through the crap you have posted on this kid. I can post more if necessary to point out your bias against this kid, but I think everyone has gotten the gist of your post on the subject. Time to move on. Later!
Not one thing you quote me on here substantiates your position or is contrary to the position I have taken all along. It’s funny that you have spent all this time searching for posts that establish my position, thanks. You fail to realize that this is your bias and your bias alone.
I think more regionals is the preferred model, also. Tros hit a granny in extra innings to win the tourney and get to the Houston Regional. We played very well in Houston. We finished with RPI of 40 in 2015, so an at large was not certain.
Getting to regionals more often would smooth out the bi-polar nature of the program that drives the fans that care insane. The program needs to understand the reason fans are disappointed is because we care. If we didn't care nobody would post here.
You take fans to within throwing distance of the top of the pile 2013 to 2016, then drop them in the dumpster for years after that, the team needs to expect some serious "feedback" from their clients, which is what fans are.
