You right. Why would any coach think about benching a player who is subpar playing out of position, having trouble at the plate especially with RISP and is slow as molasses when he does get on base. He needs to be an every day player.
PS: I would not be surprised to see him at 3B before we see him on the bench.
Hannie has never ever played first base. He was brought in originally as a hitter. Coaches then realized he was a very good pitcher. He pitched during fall ball his freshman year then got hurt and redshirted. On his exit interview he was told to focus on hitting. The have not worked him in as a pitcher at all this year. He wishes to go back to pitching but that’s not up to him.
