I hope this season humbles Marlin to realize that our basketball program is not as competent or competitive as he believe, but given his past mediocre body of work at UL and current statements, I think he's a lost cause. A change is needed. I hope this wakes up Maggard!
OG took the online course the summer between Evans and Lee.
Lee's first team was pretty salty. He had a couple of untimely transfers out, took a massive APR hit, followed by David Walker requiring a system reboot without the Evans style transfers.
The program has never fully recovered.
Marlin's winning percentage since being at UL for the last 9 years is a whopping 59%. Why is this guy even still here ? How much longer are we gonna keep paying this dude ? Again, mediocrity at it's finest.
Look a little deeper. The bulk of those wins were against bottom feeders. He has a losing record at UL to schools in the top 200 RPI. In fact, only in 2014 and 2018 did he have a winning record vs top 200 RPI, and he has never won a game against a power conference school in the top 100 RPI.
Maggard has the same excuse for an extension as last year. We're in no danger of him being plucked. So reduce the buyout, and extend it again for another year so he can bring in theses magnificent players. Don't want him in a recruiting disadvantage
Yeah, we have recruited so well lately that we excuse losing due to one starter being injured as if there’s no one else on the bench to step up and replace him.
“Well, Gant got hurt during the Tech game. That’s why we lost by 20+ to them at home.” (Two of Tech’s starters didn’t even play)
“Well Marquetti was injured which caused us to lose three straight conference games by an average of 20 points.”
A starter and an extraordinary recruit who may very well been freshman of the year.
