Exactly. what some deem as better is fake gold. this year they are 1 bid league, same as us and a 14 seed, same as us. only counting years since realignment. both leagues have only been 1 bid leagues. the dislike for the Sun Belt blinds a lot of folks to the reality of others.

I will given them this, c-usa has a few more programs than the Sun Belt that actually try and invest in basketball. they are just not good enough at it to produce better results.

So do you doubt that the SBC was better with WKU and MTSU in it during its time? MTSU was an automatic qualifier several years ago and beat Michigan State in the NCAA. They were becoming one of the better mid major teams out there until Kermit Davis left. WKU was ranked this year and got one of the best freshmen in the country to play there this year. They consistently recruit well and are a player in the mid major landscape. Lets not forget that we had a healthy dislike for both schools which made for great storylines and mini-rivalries. I'd pay money to go see us play WKU or MTSU in the dome rather than App State.

Basketball will never be #2 because it can’t generate revenue like baseball can. Baseball gets revenue from suites, premium seating, and 200 yards of advertisements along the outfield wall. For basketball, almost all of that revenue goes to the Cajundome.

But uh, what exactly is the athletic department doing to make basketball a top mid-major? How can you expect our basketball program to achieve like a top mid-major when we don’t fund it like a mid-major? How can you expect us to generate buzz when we don’t market the program at all until after football season ends? I like Maggard, but it is abundantly clear that all the money and manpower is being put towards football.

If you want to know why the Sun Belt has gone from a decent basketball conference in the 90’s to a terrible one today, it is because every Sun Belt school has collectively decided football matters more.

It would matter in the sense of whether there is pressure from the administration to change it. Everyone knows it won't happen but it was started by a poster who had an opinion. You don't have to agree with the opinion but the point of changing it to appease others seems off especially when the opinion is not violating any type of forum rules or etiquette.
