Week 2 softball rpi

We just have to hope that winning the regular season and tournament championship do something for us in the a eyes of the committee. Maybe a top 10 ranking too. There is a monumental mountain to climb to get close to the top 16 RPI again. The remaining conference schedule is pretty brutal.

Why get into the top 16 just to host a regional if you end up getting sent to the #1 or #2 overall national seed for a super? Get in to a regional with a national seed between 5 and 12, win that thing, and then watch what happens.

Because there's no guarantee that we get sent to a 5-12 and the easiest path to a super is to host. Relying on the committee for a favorable draw leaves most people disappointed at the end of the selection show.

Even still, your goal is to win every game you play. In fact, the Cajuns have an opportunity to do that with their schedule. I doubt that if they creep back towards #16 the team would slack off and lose one to avoid getting a host spot matched up with a top 4 team.

The goal is not just to get to the WCWS, but put yourself in a position to win it. That means you'll likely have to beat a top 8 team (probably a few of them) at some point.

So I guess we are just practicing for the tournament. No difference between winning out or dropping a few more games as far as helping or hurting our chances to get to the WCWS.

If that is really the case then we might as well let the bullpen get some time in the circle.

I think that sums it up pretty well. I see no path to a top 16 seed this year. Right now I would say there is a 90% chance we are in Baton Rouge. Unfortunate because in my opinion they have one of the best teams they have ever had.

I heard the tail end of a comment Glasco made on 1420 this morning about putting too much pressure on the team in regards to his comments about RPI last week. Said something about maturity. Pretty big to admit. Hopefully, you're right about a blessing in disguise. Some lessons are hard learned, but worth it if they make you better.

I stated this last week in a thread about the McNeese game. Read between the lines of his quotes in the Daily Aggrivator after the game, and he seemed to be alluding to this.

Dude is owning up. I find myself become a bigger fan of him the longer he’s here.
