This isn’t a bad team just not alot of room for error. The slow start with alot of question marks and an unproven pitching staff outside of a few arms looks to be too much to overcome for an at-large.

    Good speed
    Good starting pitching
Solid offense which is just now showing what it can do
    Young suspect bullpen

I predict around a 32-26 finish, should be in contention for the SBC division title and it will all come down to the conference tournament.

Not up to the high expectations we’ve set for Ragin’ Cajuns baseball but this team still has the potential to do things. The bullpen will be the deciding factor in my opinion, which we all knew coming into the season. Who knows though, maybe this team goes on a run and wins 10 in a row. Stranger things have happened and there’s plenty of talent on this team to go on a good run.

Windham, Gunner, Kasuls, Gavin hurt. I choose to manage expectations within the range of realistic to optomistic. I will watch the games to appreciate individual athletic abilities on each team. I haven't seen anything that says they can beat a good team.

I don't honestly expect anything beyond a .500 season ending quietly. Collectively, they simply lack ability to play consistently at a high level..

We may be watching two different ballclubs here.

Pitching is ankle deep. Offense is spotty, at best. We only won today because Appy pitching out-sucked us. We made their freshman starter look like Roger Clemens.

And that shallow creek must make its way towards the second base bag cause we can’t turn a double play to save our nuts.

I was pretty clear the bullpen/pitching depth is a weakness. Starting pitching has been good, Leger’s arm is a concern. I change those projections to .500 If he’s not a regular starter on Fridays.

I could be wrong but only one Robe coached team has finished under .500 in this millenium. 2003 team won something like 19 out of 21 to finish the year at 30-30 after a rough start and had a chance to win the conference on the last weekend. I’ll be more concerned if the team does not continue progressing. This is a better team right now than it was a month ago.

Just trying to look at some positives. We have alot of guys hitting at or near .300 now. Things can change quick in small sample sizes of baseball. I do agree we need to show consistency.

Gunner has missed 2 of three starts and struggled the 3rd start. I'd say it was a concern too. Leger played 2017 with a bad elbow, missed all of 2018. I just hope he is not done for good. He could be special at the next level. The bullpen is just bad.

The middle does not remind anyone of BT and Jace.

Ill say what I say for quarterbacks… Once the season starts, baseball players need to stay out of the weight room.

Constantly building muscle during the season makes them slow and knotty.

The positives are Lott getting better, Cantrelle getting super hot at the plate and an occasional solid start on the mound. If you want fans to hold their breath for a May conference miracle, it's just not a realistic goal.

I know the team needs a reason to play, and with a 115 RPI, the conf. tourney is it. I prefer to be pleasantly surprised.
