Thread: Ron Hunter to Tulane!

Why does it have to be one or the other?

Why can't we have a great regular season and a great sun belt tournament?

Why can't we be in the mix for post season 3 out of every 5 years?

I don't always agree with you and VO. Especially when you guys quit criticizing and morph into bashing. (It doesn't happen often, but it does happen).

But I respect you guys, because I think you get how important it is to be good on a continuous basis and not be NCAA or bust people.

Most people around the league were blown away when Scott Cross was fired. He was fired by an AD because he lost ONE game...in the league tournament the year they won the regular season title.

Now he's at Troy. And, he'll do well there.

I am well aware what NCAA appearances mean, Captain Obvious.

But you did prove my point in my response to Zephyr.
    Deleted for double post

I'm fairly certain the Sunbelt does what other leagues do and most of that revenue is split with the league. Schools really cash in by putting multiple teams in the dance and having them progress in the tournament.

The payout is not what's important it's the exposure your program gets especially if you win a game

You are the one that brought up money and that payout is extremely important because it is a huge amount of money over multiple years. The basketball fund is the most moeny paid out by the NCAA to its member institutions.

Im talking about increasing in donations and season tickets that is usually associated with making the dance or the NCAA postseasons. The Ncaa pays us about 140k per year in basketball which is nothing football got 1.4 mill

Its nothing because the SBC only puts one team in the tournament and they rarely win a game. This year each "unit" will be worth 280K or 1.68 mil over the six years paid out. Putting two teams in the tournament and winning a few games can make a huge difference to a conference.

I agree but the sunbelt will never be a 2 bid league with how these coaches schedule to pad their record.

OVU was a 2 bid league with both coaches making substantially less than Big Fish

The problem isn’t that Big Fish makes lots of dollars. The problem is he’s not giving us a good return on investment. Oh well I’m sure talktomewillis will remind us we were never really very good, what the heck we’re b itch ing about
