Roug, I’m just giving facts with timing.
I have no beef with you or almost anyone else, but we need to use THE facts if we are going to banter back and forth.
I think the position was a viable position based on the facts when it was made.
With what Cantrelle has done since then and especially the last two weeks, he is now unequivocally our only option at SS or any other position we may need him.
I call BS Joe. Jacob81 posted he wasn't sure there was a better SS on this team.
You replied "I'm not sure about that."
He later asked who? You replied, "I don't believe he has been given a chance at the position. Been riding the pine for the last couple of weeks."
So Cantrelle hit the ball as a true freshman in a collegiate league. He ended up being one of the Top freshmen in the SBC last season. He has struggled early with the bat, but Lockeridge is better? Sorry, the reason he is on the bench is because he hasn't earned the opportunity to play over Cantrelle based upon what he did last season. He couldn't play better defense than Windham or hit better then him either early on. Now he will get another chance with Windham out.
My guess, because I’m not looking it up, is that Cantrelles fielding % has been higher than Lochridge throughout the season.
When Cantrelle was hitting .125 his obp was .340ish 3rd on the team. Like I said, why was this ever a conversation. The more ABs he got, the sooner he’d come around and lead this team again.
Not the info I asked Vic about, which is why I asked. That info would add more context to number of errors in addition to how many put outs. I would assume Cantrelle’s fielding percentage at that particular time was higher, but I don’t know that for a fact.
Vic is right that facts are important. We got down to about what the facts were for the most part and our opinions were different based on those facts.
