Yvette Girouard Field Named for Architect of Lady Cajuns Softball

They way Ray Authement treated her...you can kind of see why she exited the way she did. It burned us as the time, but I think there was a combo of her dislike for Authement/Blanco politics and the dislike of Lotiefs that influenced the way she reacted.

Concerning the lettering behind home plate. You guys weren't there. This was done as a complete surprise. The team came out and colored the letters. Yes, one or two are off center. It'll get fixed.

Here's the reality.

We don't have what we have if it wasn't for Yvette and her family. The sacrifices they made to build what we have are stories that legends are made of. She was a part time coach and it wasn't until after the first WCWS trip that she became full time. She made less than 10K a year when she was hired. She recruited out of her own pocket and slept in her car on recruiting trips. Her parents supported her and her program monetarily.

The animosity between the two programs was instigated by Stefni and Mike. Not by her.

Without Yvette, we don't have what we have. Period.

And, as soon as we got rid of the plague, she immediately offered to help. She worked hard to try and convince Allyson to take the job. She was instrumental in Glasco's hiring.

And now, she'll bust her tail to help this program in any way she can.

Some, especially younger folks, won't like this. I get it.

But there is only one reason why we became a nationally respected softball program. And, that's Yvette Girouard.

It's about damn time we put the bitterness in the past.

Anything besides LOUISIANA behind home place would be missing a huge branding opportunity and a complete waste. 95% of the frames on TV coverage have home plate.

But not of the turf behind the plate. No one has had a problem with Ragin' Cajuns on the backstop in the view from behind the pitcher until now. That is the view for every single pitch of every single game. Some people are holding a grudge against YG and that is what this is about.
