ABBEVILLE, La. (AP) - The Vermilion Parish Police Jury has voted to delay until October putting a proposed 5.7-mill property tax for coastal storm protection before voters.

The tax, if passed, would fund $20 million in bonds for coastal protection. The jury initially agreed at its last meeting in February to have the proposal put on the ballot in a special election in March.
