It’s almost like some of us saw this coming last summer when we knew JT would be retained. But we had someone that posts here who is so entrenched in the program tell us that we were already wrong.

Coaching staffs work when everyone knows and accepts their role. When you have to dictate what an assistant is allowed and not allowed to do, game over.

The poster that interjected Obumer in the mix lacks any ability to observe, that dude was a basketball guy.

Lol... you are correct. Obama was a basketball guy. I guess my theory is blown now. Maybe Mueller's report will shed some light on our situation here, if they don't redact the "throw down" portion of the report.

I agree. After what came out yesterday, it appears that Obumer should be all over in the Mueller report.

On a side note on JT, he's got to change it up with his pants. The strap underneath the shoes so pants stay all the way down past his heels has got to go. I think kids were doing that a few years ago in high school.

Well, I noticed something interesting last night. During a USM mound visit our batter walks down to 1st base to talk to JT while Wells is in the 3rd base coaches box.

Happened a couple times.. Our section noticed and murmured.

I noticed that also--who is allowing or directing this? Robe. This is not a Wells or Talbot issue, this is a Robe issue.

As the head coach, Robe is ultimately responsible for everything that goes on in the program. If it is happening, it is because he is allowing it to happen. If it is not improving, it is he job to fix it. Our hitting philosophy is the same as last year, who is dictating this?

And that's your answer! All HC's are ultimately responsible for the final decisions on coaches and athletes. The decision to keep JT was Coach Rob's and the decision to allow him to continue to assist Well's as the hitting coach was also made by him.

In Hudspeth case, people were more vocal in blaming his decisions because he was constantly throwing his coaches under the bus and firing them. He seldom took responsibility publicly for his own actions. In no way shape or form has Coach Robicheaux conducted himself in that manner. I'm not certain how you would have missed Hud's actions during his tenure.

Very interesting thoughts SF21.

I’m probably in the minority, but I think we lack grit a whole lot more than we lack talent. I think we lack baseball IQ, situational awareness and “buy in” even more than grit.

I just can’t keep watching hitters try to pull outside pitches. Can’t keep watching hitters not understand how to execute a bunt or use the opposite side of the field. Can’t keep watching hitters miss pitchers’ mistakes, game after game.

Half of our lineup swings for the fences. Waaay too much guessing in the box. Not jumping on Windy, but he had at least two at bats with a runner on and the right side open. Instead of going with the outside pitch oppo, he tried to yank the ball over and over. Head flying out, shoulder pointed at the damn dugout. That is flat out not understanding what your job is, and Wells or JT have GOT to correct that. It’s not just Windy either. I’m glad OV hit the bomb last night, but 1-10 with 7 Ks is absolutely unacceptable.

I’ll say again, until someone in this lineup makes a pitcher pay for mistakes, pitchers will continue to pound the zone and challenge hitters. They will attack until we fight back.

And btw, outfield defense has been atrocious. Mitchell made a great grab last night, but my god...

May or may not be looking too much into that. Alot of times, a first base coach can notice tendencies on a pitcher and may be able to relay verbally or non verbally to a hitter. With all the different pitching changes, it may have been only time he could visit with the hitter to let him know.

Not disagreeing as 1 for 10 with 7K's is not acceptable, but on Saturday's DH he was 4 for 8 with two runs scored and one RBI and 2 SO's. His .222 average isn't good but he does lead the team in OPS with a .819 and Slugging percentage at .519 which are items Robe has referenced.

Kasuls needs to be in the 3-4 hole. Monica needs to be in the 8 hole. Lahare could hit 3-4 but the before last night he’s struggled to say the least. Breaux should be in the 1-2 hole. Idk where to put everyone else. Just too many dead outs. Monica is killing us the last 2 games. He left at least 8 runners on base in scoring position.
