There's your everyday 2012 lineup. The last team that finished under .500 for Robe. Lot of public school kids.
That teams BA was .263 with an on base percentage of .347

This year is .238 and 3.345 respectively

I'm sure we could all list 20 athletes who came from private schools and turned out to be successful professional athletes.

I can personally list 20 from private schools, 20 from public schools and 20 who were awarded a "scholarship" or "grant" to a private school they couldn't afford to attend.
He did not. But he did say “maybe Robe and staff should spend a little more time recruiting some tough public school kids.”

there’s no evidence that he would get the same results as 2014 and 2016 if we had a lineup full of public school kids. 2012 had more public school kids and finished with a record below .500.

The big thing 2014 and 2016 had going for them was Matt deggs. While not around in 2016, his influence was still being felt with the players still on the roster when he was there.

They also had a hitting coach with one foot out the door and deggs took a lot of those same kids into 2013-14 and made them grinders.

So you could say coaching plays a bigger factor in this than the high school a player comes from.

Coaching can pick you up, or bring you down.

Different coaches, different philosophies. Deggs would have these boys hitting the cover off the ball right now...and then drop down a bunt single.

Wish people would quit mentioning Deggs. He’s gone. Ain’t coming back. Move on. He’s a rare breed. We were extremely lucky. Move on people.

So does he have Carte Blanche with his system or did he just take the helm to execute an in place system?

The new looks a lot like the old.
