This issue is besides scoring a lot of runs on Wednesday, nothing clicked with the team where we were playing better. The bounces went our way and then went back to normal against LMU and UNO last night. We were still playing mediocre to bad baseball. Our opponents just played worse for a 5 game stretch.

Yes, but at the same time during that 5-game win streak, I saw a team that refused to lose. In the Maryland wins, we came back in both games trailing in the 9th. For the Nicholls game, we got a timely hit in the 8th with 2 outs to blow the game wide open. For the McNeese game, we crushed the ball enough to where we even responded with more runs when McNeese made that comeback. And for LMU, we were able to get some big hits and pitch well enough to play a complete game.

That showed me that this team had some grit. The problem is that we lost it after the Saturday game against LMU. Last night, it looked like the guys didn't even want to be there. Not only are we volatile on the field, but I don't see anyone stepping up mentally to get the team going either. What made the teams so great from 2013-2016 was the fact that they didn't back down to anyone. They were "grinders." Even in games where they struggled, we just knew that they would still have a chance until the final out due to their mental toughness.

We need that attitude back in this locker room right now.

I think the reality is the lack of confidence is rooted in a deficiency of ability. They simply overachieve on Fridays, get a run, or two, or three and don't get in Gunner's way... The rest of the time it's a ____ show.

I've thought such but you said it better.

5-games a week for a college student dictate in-game baseball education.

If any of you are wondering what the problem is...… THE MITTENS SHOULD ANSWER ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS. It shows the true intestinal fortitude of this group!!!

Also, they wear IT on their left hand and slide back into 1st with their right hand. They go into all of the other bases head first with BOTH hands. WTF is it for???

All of the other issues are also BS. If the coaching staff can't motivate these guys they ought to be fired. If the players are not producing, bench them and play the others. They made the college team so they should at least be decent ballplayers. Maybe they can find someone with FIRE IN THEIR BELLY.

Probably not an option, rather something that the coaches mandate. Frankly I can’t see myself wearing one without being pushed hard by a coach.

I see no reason not to trot out dupuy, frank, wiley, Spears, locheridge out there tonight and see what they got. What’s the worst that can happen? They win?

It's not mandatory. On SportsNote, Billy asked Babs about the base running mitts, the response was it was up to each player. You can hear it hear it at the 20:00 mark here:

My personal opinion: the mitts are stupid. Wearing base running mitts "just in case" something happens is about equivalent to wearing full kevlar body armor to a go hunting "just in case" you get shot.

I’ve been saying this since game 1...playing scared rather than playing fearless

I know you struggle with reading, so I’ll give you a pass on that. I have 60 years of coaching in my family. Baseball has been my life since birth, assbag. I have painted walls, swept bleachers, handed out concessions and caught fall bullpens for this program. I have given plenty of money, dedicated plenty of time and gotten to know plenty of players throughout the years. I’ve gone to Omaha and watched a number 1 seed fall out of an outfielders glove. I have plhssed away more baseball conversations, knowledge, drills, coaching clinics, camps, tournaments, fall balls, bullpens, pep talks, wall balls, etc than your blhtch arse has ever dreamed of.

You’re goddamned right my opinion matters more than yours.
