What I didn't like about Levi yesterday:

1. Came out more jittery than I expected.
1a. That first interception was an awful decision/throw.
2. Seemed to pass up running opportunities when they were there for easy yards.
3. It didn't matter to the game result, but the scramble at the end of the game should have been a pass out of bounds once he was outside the tackle box or at the very least running out of bounds.

Things I liked:

1. Led some very good drives, especially the 99 yard TD scoring drive.
2. Down 35-14, 4Q, could've packed it in, but got the team back to a one score game.
3. Extended plays from a pretty good pass rush on multiple plays.
4. Threw to the TE for a TD.

A thing I suspect (and why Napier likes him as his #1 QB right now).

1. The kid is a battler and his teammates respond to that. I'm sure some of you can come up with examples, but when it was 35-14 going into the 4Q, I was expecting it to start to get really ugly, as in past games against P5 opponents with that kind of lead ... but it didn't happen. Levi had not played well going into the 4th quarter and was down 21. I think he showed stones putting those first three quarters aside and executing in that fourth quarter.

On another note, the QB room may be talented, but is grossly inexperienced. I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong, but the only other fully healthy QB here in January was true Fr McDowell. Napier is always discussing 'trusting' players, well, right or wrong, that is a pretty short time frame to build trust.

I think Liberty will be a good competitive game, that we could (but shouldn't) lose. However, I fully hope and expect that we blow Texas Southern out and we get some game reps at least one other QB.

I would agree with this. I did not get a chance to see the game live. I watched last night and I was thinking about all the comments I saw about him here. Personally, besides the few mistakes you mentioned above, I thought Levi did some nice things. I would actually say that I'm more concerned about our WR corp than Levi. Besides Bradley, I didn't see a whole lot of guys out there who can move the chains and provide downfield threats. Bell was good in the Jet Sweep but didn't see a whole lot of anybody 10+ yards down the field.

I would also agree that Levi has to be more willing to run the ball more. He showed a really good quickness and burst that will move the chains for us this year if he is willing to do it.

LL’s strength as a passer is between the numbers and up the seams. He did make a good pass to Bradley on the sideline, but it was dropped. If we can get more plays designed to fit his strength as a passer than he will look better. His floating deep balls will get us in trouble though.

Like I said earlier, I think Levi has some upside but I would like to see him zip it a little more down the seam while in the pocket. I think these next two weeks are perfect for him to get his feet wet.

I'm gonna grade LL after we play the flames. From there I think we ll see how he does against lesser but capable competition. If he looks the same then I think a change is in order. I was fully in support of a change after watching the game.but upon another review, there are glimmers of hope. This Saturday will be my deciding factor. Hopefully better schemes and lesser nerves will help LL. Qb production is our key to our season. We ll see.

I’m not gonna judge Levi on four quarters of play. Besides he now has film to study on himself and some practice reps to put in.
